This is maybe my “old school” side who trotted out again, but I didn’t really like the modern adaptation of Midnight summer’s dream of Shakespeare. I would prefer they dramatized it on a more classic way.

First of all, this was too long. I know that it’s intricate to adapt this play in a short time but I opine the song or dance scene could be avoided. Also, the fact that the actors were turned only to the front side was a shame in a circular theater. Furthermore, there were these huge pillars who hide our view. It was more complicated to follow the story extra to the langage. I found it a little bit babyish a few times and some costums were uncalled, at the limit of vulgarity. I have the impression of being a hater. SSSSSSSSSSSSMOKIN’ !

Despite these suerficials defaults the play was really good, well staged. I particularly appreciated the tables in the audience. Some people (like the “redheaded woman”) seems to have appreciate it to. On the other hand, the men’s costums were very refined : distinguished, chic and modern. I loved the presence of homosexuality. It once again shows the cultural open mind of the English and of the artist in general. At last but not least, just the fact of seing a play in the famous Globe theater enjoyed me (in spite of comfort but anyway !). I couldn’t stop thinking of how it was at the time. This was a good experience.
